Has a wintry week left you in need of some sunshine?

Ryanair has announced flights from Newcastle Airport plus an extension to routes already proving popular with Geordies.

The budget airline will also launch two new winter routes giving holidaymakers more choice of destinations in its 2017/2018 programme.

Flights to Faro and Madrid, already available in the summer, will now continue for the rest of the year.

But it’s the cheap flights you want to know about, isn’t it.

They are being offered to celebrate the airline’s winter timetable.

The company’s Robin Keily said: “We are releasing seats from Newcastle from for travel in May which are available for booking until midnight Thursday, April 27.

“Since these amazing low prices will be snapped up quickly, customers should log on and avoid missing out.”

He said Ryanair’s summer bookings from Newcastle had been at record levels and it was hoped to repeat the success in winter.

The package also includes more flights to Tenerife and a total of 10 winter routes.

“We are also pleased to report record bookings on our Newcastle summer 2017 schedule and UK customers and visitors can look forward to even lower fares, so there’s never been a better time to book a low fare flight with Ryanair.”

The news of more flights was greeted with joy at Newcastle Airport.

John Irving, the airport’s business development director, said: “It’s great to see Ryanair continue to expand their operation out of Newcastle.

“We are delighted that both Madrid and Faro will now carry on through our winter 2017 schedule, meaning even more destinations are now available year round for the North East travelling public.
